Is this actually a licensed lawyer?
Yes. You meet with a licensed family lawyer who practises family law today. It is not a paralegal, a chatbot or AI.
Why is it $599 if it is a real lawyer?
Most of the fact gathering is done through your intake before the session. You arrive prepared, so the lawyer spends the 90 minutes on the legal decisions in your documents instead of administration. There is no retainer, no file and no billing for emails afterward.
What if my situation is complicated or my ex will not agree?
Done With You is suited to complex and emotional situations, whether or not the other party agrees. If it becomes clear during the session that you need full representation in court, the lawyer will tell you and explain where to go next.
What do I leave with?
Completed, editable Word documents written for your province, such as a separation agreement, parenting plan, support terms or property terms. They are sent to you the same day.
Does this work in my province or territory?
Yes. Documents are prepared for every province and territory and follow that jurisdiction's family law rules. Court documents are not available for Québec. Separation agreements remain available to Québec residents.
Is the session in person?
No. Sessions are held by video, so you can attend from anywhere. You and the lawyer work through your documents on screen together.
Does the lawyer become my lawyer?
No. Done With You is a limited scope consultation. It does not open a file or create an ongoing lawyer and client relationship. If you want ongoing representation later, that is a separate arrangement.
Do I need to finish the documents myself afterward?
The documents are completed during the session. They are editable Word files, so you can make changes later if your circumstances change.
What does it cost in total?
$599. It is a flat fee. There is no retainer, no hourly billing and no invoice after the session.
How do I book?
Create or sign in to your MySelfRep account, choose Done With You and complete the intake. You then book your session time.
